About Medlee
What does the name mean?
The name is a play on the word “Medley” which means mixture. Can you think of a better mixture than butter and herbs and cheese and all the other great ingredients in Medlee Seasoned Butters?
What is "compound butter"?
“Compound butter” is why you’re here! We, at Medlee, make a line of compound butters also known as flavored butter, finishing butter or beurre composé used for sautéing or as a finishing flavor in cooking. We describe it as “seasoned butter”. Chefs everywhere know the power of compound butter to razzle dazzle people, but it’s less common at home. Lucky for you, Medlee is changing the game with home-sized offerings. Currently, we offer four flavors, Basil Pesto, Red Chile, Lemon Herb and Garlic Parm. Each butter has a recipe suggestion on the back but don’t let us hold you back. See below for some more great ideas.
These Medlee Seasoned Butters made my dinner taste great! What else can I do with them?
Our motto is “Everything’s better with butter”, so take it away! Any cooked, hot pasta or grain tossed in Medlee Butter gets better, but so do cooked, hot veggies – potatoes, green beans, cauliflower, bell peppers, corn on the cob, we could keep going, but you get the idea. We’re not above spreading these butters on boring bread too, or making a grilled cheese. And don’t forget the popcorn! Looking to jazz up some meat? We suggest the Red Chile butter for chicken, but it would also be great on a pork chop or steak. Just add a disc or two after they’ve finished cooking. Check back soon for more recipes beyond the package and also, let us know how you use Medlee Butters! Gram it, tweet it, post it.
Can I make my own compound butter?
Sure! But if you don’t feel like committing to a pound of one flavor, then give our chef-crafted butters and blends a chance. There’s still some cooking involved, but with Medlee you’re one step closer to a chef-inspired flavor.
What are the ingredient standards?
The butter we use is Grade AA and free of rBST. We think carefully in selecting high quality ingredients for our products. There is no artificial flavors or preservatives ever used.
I ate all the butter. Where can I get more?

About Medlee Butters
OMG. These butters are so good. Will there be more flavors?
Aw, shucks. You’re making us blush. Yes! We are working on new flavors and new recipes all the time.
Uh-oh. My pre-portioned dollops are stuck. Help!
First of all, don’t panic. You will get to that delicious butter. We’ve found the best solution to be a swipe of the butter knife around the dollop to get all of it out. It’s all in the wrist!
Where should I store my Medlee?
Fridge or freezer! For the freshest product, we recommend storing in the freezer until you’re ready to use. Cook with it directly out of the freezer and increase your cooking times or temps as needed. Technically, you can store in the freezer for many months, but butter does easily absorb flavors so maybe not next to the fish?
If you’re keeping it in the fridge, make sure to enjoy by the USE BY date printed on the right hand side of the clear tray. Once you peel back that sticker on top, try to use the whole tray up in 10 days (or freeze).
Whoops! I threw out the sleeve. What do I do?
Ok. You’re really freaking out. Deep breath. Congrats on making it to our website. Thanks, Google! Now, check out this page for all that important info you just tossed out. Maybe one more deep breath?
Are the Medlee products gluten and allergen free?
Yes and no. All of our dairy butters CONTAIN MILK. We don’t use any of the other FDA’s major allergens (wheat, egg, tree nuts, peanuts, soy, fish, shellfish) on our equipment but these ingredients are present in other parts of our manufacturing plant. We also don’t test for the presence of allergens in our products. So if you are concerned about allergens, please check with your doctor.
